"Rendang Daging" (Beef Ren­dang)

Rendang beef is a traditional cuisine with a characteristic thick coconut milk mixed with spices and usually beef as its main ingredient. Cuisine from West Sumatra, Indonesia is very popular in all circles of society both in Indonesia itself or abroad.

Rendang is one of the typical recipes of Padang. Padang food cuisine is famous for preferred and suitable in the tongue of Indonesia, would not be surprised if in many regions were encountered at Padang food restaurant.

In addition to beef rendang also use coconut (karambia), and a mixture of various Indonesian special spices including pepper (Lado), galangal, lemongrass, onions and various other spices that is usually referred to as the (cooking).

Rendang has a respectable position in the culture of the Minangkabau. This dish is usually a compulsory menu when Lebaran.

Rendang has its own philosophy for the Minangkabau of West Sumatra is deliberation, which departs from 4 basic ingredients, namely:

1. Meat (Beef), is a symbol of Niniak Mamak (indigenous tribe leaders)

2. Karambia (Coconut), is a symbol cadiak Smart (The Intellectual)

3. Lado (Sabai), is a symbol Alim Ulama a spicy, assertive to teach syarak (religion)

4. Cooking (spices), is a symbol of the whole society Minang.
